1/30/08 - 2/3/08 **Note: The site will be going under construction for a couple of days after the Super Bowl. For this reason, the East-West Shrine and Senior Bowl Notes have not been added yet. Please be patient and know that they will be available at the latest by February 11th. I started this blog late because I can't stand media week and all that it entails. To me, it's just an exercise in bad journalism. It's either frustrated players answering the same questions over and over or some guy with a puppet asking questions that are supposed to be funny, but usually end up just being insulting. Wednesday, January 30th The story on everyone's mind today is the news that Arlen Spector, the senator from Pennsylvania, wants to talk to Roger Goodell about the destruction of evidence linked to the Patriots in the "Spygate" controversy. First of all, I want to provide a little background here. It should be noted that Spector is on the Board of Directors for Comcast, the cable company that is embroiled in a bitter lawsuit against the league for the rates charged to cable companies attempting to carry the NFL network. Also, he's a season ticket holder for the Eagles, whom of course the Patriots beat in Super Bowl XXXIX. Secondly, is this really at the top of your list of "things to do", senator? This wreaks of a publicity stunt attempting to gain the spotlight that other congressman have garnered in the steroids in baseball hearings. Friday, February 1st Plaxico Burress' injured knee has been quite the rage in Arizona this week. After it was discovered that Tom Brady's ankle would be fine and ready for Sunday's game, the receivers' ailment took center stage. This could be a huge blow to New York's ability to keep up with New England. Burress has always been Eli Manning's "go to guy" and if he's limited in how he can play, the Giants are going to a gun fight with a slingshot. Saturday, February 2nd Words cannot express the joy I felt when it was announced that Art Monk was finally going to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Not only did he deserve it, but unlike Harry Carson (who also deserved it), he didn't whine openly about it. Instead, he did what he always did - he handled it with class and dignity. Because of the lack of "sure bet" hall of famers this year, I had a feeling he would get his due, but you never know what happens when the voters go behind closed doors. Ditto for Gary Zimmerman, by the way.
