2007 Week 5 Power Rankings

If you're not excited about the New England-Dallas game this weekend, well.....well, I'm actually quite surprised you're looking at this website. This is the type of game that makes you not trust sound bites. When you hear Patriots' defensive back Ellis Hobbs say that this is just another game on the schedule, do you believe him? No, why would you? Mr. Hobbs, how can you not be anxious to match up against Tony Romo and Terrell Owens? How can any player on either team not be excited about matching up against their counterpart?

I'm not predicting this will be the game of the decade, but it will be the best game of the year to determine two things. First, what's the depth of the disparity between the NFC and AFC? Second, is Tony Romo for real and how will he respond when confronting a well-coached, athletic defense?

Either way, Mr. Hobbs, I can't wait for Sunday.

1. New England Patriots (5-0) - we'll see the difference between the Patriots and "everybody else" this weekend.
2. Indianapolis Colts (5-0) - they were able to trounce Tampa even without Joseph Addai and Marvin Harrison.
3. Dallas Cowboys (5-0) - love him or hate him, Terrell Owens' pep talks kept Tony Romo from imploding on Monday.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) - even at number four, this team may be underrated.
5. Tennessee Titans (3-1) - almost every game is ugly, but they just figure out a way to get it done.
6. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1) - ditto.
7. Green Bay Packers (4-1) - someone needs to tell Mike McCarthy that "prevent offenses" don't work in the NFL.
8. San Diego Chargers (2-3) - they're baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!
9. Washington Redskins (3-1) - slowly but surely, Jason Campbell is becoming the leader of this football team.
10. Houston Texans (3-2) - they'll be better when Ahman Green and Jacoby Jones come back this week.
11. Seattle Seahawks (3-2) - that was one ugly loss, Team Starbucks.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2) - getting beat by Tony Dungy and the Horsies is nothing to be ashamed of.
13. Baltimore Ravens (3-2) - and remember, Brian Billick got this job because he was an offensive genius!!!.
14. New York Giants (3-2) - with the injuries and controversies fading into the past, the Giants are coming around.
15. Cincinnati Bengals (1-3) - the bye week couldn't come at a better time - they need a healthy Rudi Johnson.
16. Carolina Panthers (3-2) - they won, but with Jake Delhomme out for the year, this team is done.
17. Chicago Bears (2-3) - that might have been the game that turns this season around.
18. Denver Broncos (2-3) - I haven't seen a more poorly prepared Broncos team....EVER.
19. Arizona Cardinals (3-2) - if they continue running the ball this way, they'll win the NFC West.
20. Detroit Lions (3-2) - maybe someone should ask Jon Kitna if he still guarantees 10 wins this season.
21. Kansas City Chiefs (2-3) - what is wrong with Larry Johnson? He is NOT running with any sense of authority.
22. Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) - Andy Reid is 8-0 after the bye and that record won't be challenged by the Jets.
23. Cleveland Browns (2-3) - it's becoming apparent that the Browns are building a good team.
24. San Francisco 49ers (2-3) - I love the guy, but Trent Dilfer will be the end of this team.
25. Oakland Raiders (2-2) - while his play hasn't been pretty, Daunte Culpepper is changing Oakland's attitude.
26. Buffalo Bills (1-4) - unfortunately, they'll spend their bye week wondering how they let Dallas off the hook.
27. New York Jets (1-4) - Let's see if the "Man-genius" can figure out it's time to make a change at quarterback.
28. New Orleans Saints (0-4) - Reggie Bush is just not ready to be a premiere back in the National Football League.
29. Minnesota Vikings (1-3) - after Trent Edwards' first performance, J.P. Losman shouldn't feel too comfy in Buffalo.
30. Atlanta Falcons (1-4) - Joey Harrington is playing well, so why force Byron Leftwich on everyone?
31. St. Louis Rams (0-5) - Brian Leonard looked good last week, but he's no Stephen Jackson.
32. Miami Dolphins (0-5) - they actually looked better with Cleo Lemon at quarterback.
