2007 Week Fourteen Power Rankings

There are going to be a lot of questions after this one, but I decided to take a new approach this week. I almost took the teams' records completely out of consideration and simply ranked them based on who I would/would not want to play at this point of the season. Let's face it, that's what it comes down to going into the final two or three games of the season. Think about it, if your team had to win one game to get in the playoffs, who would you feel more comfortable playing - the slumping Giants (9-5) or the red-hot Mario Williams-led Texans (7-7)?

1. New England Patriots (14-0) - I thought they would have saved their best game for the Jets, not their worst.
2. Indianapolis Colts (12-2) - this team is in cruise-control, just waiting for the games that matter.
3. Dallas Cowboys (12-2) - his game against Philly is the reason why people need to ease up on the "Romo-fest."
4. Green Bay Packers (12-2) - there are going to be a lot of Green Bay-based Redskins' fans in week 17.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (10-4) - this is the only team that can beat the Patriots in Foxboro.
6. San Diego Chargers (9-5) - Philip Rivers is really making me uneasy about this ranking.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-5) - they were simply man-handled by the Jags in their own place.
8. Cleveland Browns (9-5) - looking over their roster, especially the defense, I just can't believe they're 9-5.
9. Seattle Seahawks (9-5) - they've got two easy games left (Ravens and Falcons). They better start winning big.
10. Tennessee Titans (8-6) - nothing about this team os overly impressive. Hence, the mediocre record.
11. Minnesota Vikings (8-6)  - the reason for their five game winning streak: the improvement of Tarvaris Jackson.
12. Houston Texans (7-7) - plain and simple - Mario Williams got screwed.
13. Buffalo Bills (7-7) - the combined record of the teams they've lost to: 74-24. Now that's a tough schedule!
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-5) - this team would be 5-9 at best if they played in the AFC.
15. New York Giants (9-5) - unfortunately for Giants' fans, they'll never admit they made a mistake with Eli Manning.
16. Washington Redskins (7-7) - Clinton Portis and Fred Taylor may be the most underrated backs in the league.
17. Denver Broncos (6-8) - when the Broncos picked up Travis Henry, I thought it was brilliant. Boy, was I wrong.
18. New Orleans Saints (7-7) - they've done a great job getting back in the playoff hunt after a disastrous start.
19. Philadelphia Eagles (6-8) - why can't the Eagles play that way against the average and below-average teams?
 20. Arizona Cardinals (6-8) - I still think this team has an incredible future.
21. Cincinnati Bengals (5-9) - after their performance in 2007, they simply can't bring back Marvin Lewis.
22. Detroit Lions (6-8) - they've been outscored 205-108 in their six game losing streak.
23. Chicago Bears (5-9) - is there any doubt the Bears will draft a quarterback with their first round pick this year?
24. Carolina Panthers (6-8) - six years after being the number one overall pick, David Carr will be out of the league.
25. Kansas City Chiefs (4-10) - Dwayne Bowe has been great. Too bad they don't have anyone to throw him the ball.
26. Baltimore Ravens (4-10) - Miami?!?!?! You lost to freakin' Miami?!?!?!
27. New York Jets (3-11) - ask Kellen Clemens and Chad Pennington how the "retooled" offensive line is working.
28. Oakland Raiders (4-10) - it doesn't get any easier Raider Nation with the Jags and Chargers left on the schedule.
29. St. Louis Rams (3-11) - Steven Jackson will be considered the best running back in the league within two years.
30. San Francisco 49ers (4-10) - sorry, but I'm not feeling the "Shaun Hill Magic" people.
31. Atlanta Falcons (3-11) - after the Vick, Petrino, and Parcells fiascos, Arthur Blank must feel like a doormat.
32. Miami Dolphins (1-13) - and no, one win doesn't get you out of the basement.
