2007 Week Sixteen Power Rankings

Well, don't expect too many changes in the power rankings after this week. Whether a team is in the playoffs or not, the results of week 17 are always skewed. For instance, the Titans are five point favorites over the Colts...AT INDY!!! Now, even if they win, you simply can't tell me that they're better than Tony Dungy's crew. Playoff teams rest players for the games that actually matter. Bad teams want to see younger players that haven't had a chance to play. Overall, it's just a bad week for prognosticating and evaluating team performances.

1. New England Patriots (15-0) - the only question left is how easy will the Giants make it on Saturday night.
2. Indianapolis Colts (13-2) - that was an impressive 38-0 run against an up-and-coming Houston team.
3. Dallas Cowboys (13-2) - well, that's two ugly wins in a row. It's time to peak, guys.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars (11-4) - this team represents the best chance anyone has in upsetting the Patriots.
5. San Diego Chargers (10-5) - you showed very little class in beating Denver, Philip Rivers.
6. Green Bay Packers (12-3) - the only reason they didn't fall further is because everyone deserves a mulligan.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-5) - I don't like the way an undermanned Rams team moved the ball on them.
8. Seattle Seahawks (10-5) - they've got the experience to knock off the Cowboys or Packers.
9. Tennessee Titans (9-6) - I certainly can't see them beating anyone in the AFC bracket.
10. Cleveland Browns (9-6) - I don't care about the rivalry, there's no excuse for the way they played in Cincinnati.
11. New York Giants (10-5) - the last game of the season and playoff game(s) will determine Coughlin's future.
12. Washington Redskins (8-7) - I have no idea how they're doing it, but they deserve a little good luck this year.
13. Minnesota Vikings (8-7) - the Redskins dared Tarvaris Jackson to win the game...and he couldn't.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-6) - is this team too old to compete this late in the year?
15. Houston Texans (7-8) - speaking of mulligans...Yikes!
16. Buffalo Bills (7-8) - it was great to see Kevin Everett walking around Ralph Wilson Stadium.
17. Philadelphia Eagles (7-8) - they're coming on strong at just the wrong time.
18. Denver Broncos (6-9) - Mike Shanahan must be pulling his hair out because of this team's inconsistency.
19. Arizona Cardinals (7-8) - Kurt Warner has been a great mentor for this young offensive squad.
 20. Cincinnati Bengals (6-9) - they only move up one because they didn't win that game as much as Cleveland lost it.
21. New Orleans Saints (7-8) - Sean Payton's crew will struggle until he fixes that defense.
22. Detroit Lions (7-8) - beating the Chiefs doesn't score many points with the Doc.
23. Chicago Bears (6-9) - until this week, I thought Brian Urlacher and the defense were hibernating for the winter.
24. Carolina Panthers (6-9) - Matt Moore may be the quarterback of the future in Charlotte.
25. Kansas City Chiefs (4-11) - they didn't win, but Damon Huard proved he should have been the starter all year.
26. Baltimore Ravens (4-11) - I liked what I saw from Troy Smith on Sunday. He just needs a little more time.
27. San Francisco 49ers (5-10) - Bryant Young needs to start getting fitted for his Hall of Fame jacket.
28. New York Jets (3-12) - Thomas Jones may be the most disappointing free agent signing this year.
29. St. Louis Rams (3-12) - with only a couple games left with the Rams, it was great to see Isaac Bruce play well.
30. Oakland Raiders (4-11) - Warren Sapp needs to just shut up and play.
31. Atlanta Falcons (3-12) - I feel bad for Emmitt Thomas - he had that team ready to play.
32. Miami Dolphins (1-14) - that was about as good a performance as could be expected against the Pats.
