2008 Week Six Power Rankings

While watching the New York Giants self-implode against the Browns on Monday night, I came across a true dilemna: who actually is the best team in the league? The Colts and Chargers have started slowly, the Steelers and Cowboys are dealing with injuries, and Tom Coughlin still occasionally gets the Dom Capers' face. That leaves me with a team that while coached by Jeff Fisher, relies on Kerry Collins at quarterback and an offense that could be shut out by any of about two dozen teams in the league. Please, please make it stop!

1   Tennessee (5-0) They move up four spots for two reasons: 1. they're the only undefeated team left and 2. they were smart enough to get rid of Pacman Jones this offseason.
2   New York Giants (4-1) Tom Coughlin and the guys ran into a buzz saw in Cleveland. I don't expect to see that again anytime soon.
3   Pittsburgh (4-1) With their injuries, the Men of Steel desperately needed a bye week.
4   Dallas (4-2) What a week! They lose a heartbreaker to the Cards, Tony Romo gets injured, Pacman is back on suspension, and Jerry Jones still thinks he's a GM.
5   Indianapolis (3-2) Unfortunately for the rest of the NFL, it looks like Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison are back in sync.
6   San Diego (3-3) With a win in Buffalo this week, they could cement themselves as one of the top four teams in the AFC.
7   Washington (4-2) Here I praise them for taking care of the ball last week, and how do they repay me? By giving it up three times....to the Rams!!!!
8   Philadelphia (3-3) Even without Brian Westbrook, Donovan McNabb is proving that when healthy, he is the straw that stirs the drink in Philly.
9   Jacksonville (3-3) David Garrard and Maurice Jones-Drew picked a great time to have their best games of the year in a game the Jags had to have.
10   Denver (4-2) As good as they are on paper, the Broncos are proving that they may be too young to handle the pressure of being a top-tier team.
11   Tampa Bay (4-2) One week it's the offense, the next it's the defense. This week, they used a big play from the special teams unit to set the tone for a big divisional win.
12   Buffalo (4-1) With their strength of schedule being pretty poor, I'm still not really sold on the Bills. We'll find out a little more about them against the Chargers.
13

Carolina (4-2) The beatdown they took at the hands of the Bucs was eye-opening - not a single facet of the gameplan worked.
14   New England (3-2) Anyone who doesn't think that Tom Brady is the best player in the league simply has to look at the last few games versus last year.
15   Minnesota (3-3) I didn't get to see the game against the Lions....and I couldn't be happier.
16   New Orleans (3-3) Has anyone noticed that the healthier Deuce McAllister gets, the more effective Reggie Bush and the rest of the Saints' offense becomes?
17   Arizona (4-2) Surprisingly, I was more impressed with their defense against the Cowboys than anything else.
18   Atlanta (4-2) Don't get me wrong, they're a great story and nobody needs it more than Arthur Blank, but I just can't put them in the top half of the rankings....yet.
19   New York Jets (3-2) It was nice to see Thomas Jones finally show up. He better continue to do so if the Jets have any aspirations of being an above average team.
20   Chicago (3-3) I've said it over a thousand times - I....HATE.... SQUIB....KICKS!!!!
21   Baltimore (2-3) I realize that defense wins championships, but guys, at least some offense is necessary.
22   Green Bay (3-3) Sorry Packer fans, but you don't get much credit for beating a bad Seahawks team without Matt Hasselbeck.
23   Cleveland (2-3) Where in the hell has that been all season!?!?!?
24   Houston (1-4) The Texans should be at least 2-3 with a win over Indianapolis. I can see them at 4-4 at the midway point.
25   Miami (2-3) Bill Parcells should know that gimmicky offenses won't work for long in the NFL.
26   San Francisco (2-4) Wow - giving up 23 points in the fourth quarter alone must drive a defensive-minded guy like Mike Nolan absolutely nuts.
27   Oakland (1-4) You're right, Al Davis. It's very clear that Lane Kiffin was the problem.
28   Seattle (1-4) Mike Holmgren should save himself the pain and just retire now.
29   Kansas City (1-4) I'd have liked to have been a fly on the wall when Herm Edwards told Larry Johnson that he wasn't going to play this weekend.
30   St. Louis (1-4) I still think they're the worst team in the league, but winning in Washington grants them a reprieve.
31   Cincinnati (0-6) When did Chad Johnson turn into Howard Hughes? Seriously, is there anyone that this guy thinks isn't out to get him?
32   Detroit (0-5) I don't think I've ever seen a player more oblivious to his surroundings that Dan Orlovsky. If the back of the end zone was a pier, he would have drown himself.
