Doctor Football's Fantasy Rankings I've never understood why people hold their fantasy league drafts before the third game of the preseason. I know it's a fairly popular practice, but I just don't get it. First of all, why take the risk of a season-ending injury suffered in the exhibition game in which the starters play the most? Second, how do you know whether the second-string running back or third wide receiver will even be on the same team, or used in the same way once the proverbial "real bullets start flying"? Lastly, if you spend any time whatsoever preparing for your draft, how can you possibly have all the information you need in mid-to-late August when training camp isn't even finished? For instance, something tells me the guys who drafted Sage Rosenfels or Tavaris Jackson on August 15th are feeling a little gloomy. For those people, I apologize for my rankings coming out so late, but I'm not going to put out rankings early (like so many publications do), when they may be obsolete by the time your draft comes around. One more note, the following rankings are for standard league scoring systems. In other words, I do not account for points for receptions, quarterback completions, or any other goofy statistic that your particular commissioner may come up with to make his league "unique."
